Gary Valenciano to hold two-night online concert

Gary Valenciano is virtually staging a concert this coming weekend, April 18 and 19, all the way from his home.

Dubbed as ‘Hopeful 2020,’ the two-night concert—both starting at 8:30 p.m. Philippine standard time—will be streamed live via his official Facebook page, Gary V Official.

According to his publicist Chuck Gomez, Mr. Pure Energy promises to bring hope and joy to his fans all over the world on these two online concert dates.

Locked up at home for over a month now in a concerted effort to flatten the coronavirus curve, Gary hasn’t stopped working. He has created and directed a series of creative videos that have surprised, encouraged, and delighted audiences here and abroad through ‘ASAP Natin ‘To,’ through his own recently revived YouTube channel, and through other digital platforms accessible via the internet.

He has performed and guested for various online gigs organized by the music industry to rally support and raise funds to help protect and equip Filipino frontline doctors, nurses, health care and essential workers, all of them heroes who risk their lives daily to serve and save others.

The ‘Hopeful’ concert dates coincide with the shows originally scheduled at the Araneta Coliseum to mark the musical master’s 37 years in the industry. The event had to be postponed indefinitely because of the pandemic which has put on pause not just the entertainment industry, but the whole world.

Amidst this unprecedented crisis, Gary has been inspired as he witnessed the Filipinos' can-do, “bayanihan” spirit – citizens and communities, companies, big and small, finding ways and means to stretch, to give, to lend a hand to the tens of millions in need.

“I told my wife, Angeli, I don’t think I’ve been as busy as I have been these past 30 days at home compared to the past few years. I’m now moved and led to do things I hope will encourage and inspire the many Filipinos now separated from their families because of the situation that we all face,” Gary V said in his CNN in an interview.

“‘Hopeful,’ my online concerts on the 18th and 19th, will be two nights of fun and meaning. Together, we’ll celebrate life and give thanks for all that’s been given, appreciate those who have helped in whatever way they can, all who have  donated, and we’ll also give people a chance to give even more. It will be a night to rally for triumph, a night to spark hope,” he added.
